Simple Radio Guides

Please read everything on this page, including the Terms & Conditions, before downloading anything.

Simple Radio Guides are FREE AI-generated guides for specific types of handheld radios (walkie-talkies) that operate on specific frequencies. These guides describe basic use of both General Mobile Radio Service (GMRS) radios, which require a license (no test), and Family Radio Service (FRS) radios, which do not require a license.

GMRS LicenseTo obtain a GMRS license (good for an entire family and multiple radios) you need to set up an FCC account on the FCC Cores site (link below). There are a number of steps required to complete the license application, though the license itself requires only a $35 payment (at this time October 31, 2025) and does not require a test. We recommend following the instructions found at the Rockie Talkie radios website (this is not an endorsement) as these are the clearest instructions we have yet found for setting up an FCC account and getting a GMRS license.
